All wedding dresses are designed and created by Megan in her small studio in Paulshof, the north of Johannesburg.
A maximum party of 3 people may join the bride for consultations and fittings.
THE DESIGN PROCESS
It usually takes about 3 months to create each customer's dream wedding gown. It is suggested that an order should be booked 3 to 5 months in advance to avoid disappointment.
The dress is created over a series of fittings; usually only 3 to 4 fittings are needed, depending on the style of the dress.
At the first consultation, the style of the dress will be discussed, and the bride will be shown different fabric choices that will suit her, the style of the dress and the theme of her wedding.
To book a personal consultation with Megan, email with images of your desired style or fill out this form.
Although having trained and worked in the corporate world as a structural engineer for 3 years while running her bridal dressmaking business after hours, Megan decided to pursue her passion of creating bridal wear full time. She now runs a successful business on her own, working as the designer, seamstress and business owner.
With over 10 years experience in women's garment design and construction, and over 4 years experience in designing and creating bridal wear, Megan began as a self taught dressmaker. After graduating from university with an engineering degree, she followed her dreams of working in the fashion industry, and moved to London, UK, to study at the London College of Fashion.
Megan prides herself on being a perfectionist, with an attention to detail and an eye for dressing the female figure. As well as designing and creating her bride's wedding dresses, she offers advice on upcoming bridal trends, bridal styling, wedding themes and colour schemes. She aims for her brides to feel sexy, beautiful, confident but true to their personal style, in their bespoke Megan Bailey Atelier wedding dress.
